Emmis' New York CHR station WQHT ("Hot 97") tomorrow launches a new web TV series called "Los Blancos." The weekly series will consist of 5-6 minute webisodes, focused on "the tale of two sisters who have taken on the responsibility of running their own family-owned cocaine business."

Inside Radio reports, "Emmis hopes to ultimately distribute season one of 'Los Blancos' as a continuous story arc for a one-hour cable TV show." Though a web-based TV series is hardly "typical fare for a radio station," it isn't new for WQHT. In 2010, the station launched "The Wizards NYC," a weekly web TV reality show starring station personalities.

"Online video is a great way to continue to curate content and create a rich media experience for our audience,” said Lin Dai, Emmis-New York and the Loud Digital Network VP of digital programming and entertainment. “Radio needs to think of itself as a cross-platform media company.”

TuneIn has partnered with New York's WQHT "HOT 97 FM" to create a new streaming radio station centered on the HOT 97 Summer Jam hip-hop festival. The stream reportedly includes music from artists who will perform at the upcoming fest, as well as archived performances from previous Summer Jam artists. "These archived performances are not a part of the regular on-air rotation, giving fans access to this type of content, previously unavailable to them," says TuneIn.

Users can find the new station by searching for "Summer Jam" on TuneIn's website, mobile apps or other offerings. HOT 97 Summer Jam takes place on June 3.

TuneIn aggregates more than 60,000 web radio stations and 2 million on-demand programs. It is available on 150 devices and boasts more than 30 million listeners.

Crowdsourcing radio service Jelli has partnered with Emmis to launch five web radio stations that are completely programmed by user voting. The new stations include HOT 97 (after WQHT in New York), POWER 106 (after KPWR in Los Angeles), RXP, Funk Master Flex and HOT 97 Throwback.

The new stations integrate with Facebook, allowing listeners to "add what they're listening to on their Facebook profile and share with friends, who can quickly tune in a help shape the playlist." All Access has more coverage here.
